Orbituary for Jan Weiland

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our colleague Jan Weiland, who passed away far too soon at the end of September after a brief but serious illness.

Jan worked for the ZBW with great dedication for 25 years. He built up the EconStor repository from the very start and continued to co-develop it both technically and conceptually over many years. Without his tireless dedication and his great expertise, EconStor would not be where it is today. Moreover, Jan was involved in the German repository community (especially in the DSpace and the DINI community) and the RePEc community. In addition to his professional contributions, we will especially miss his warmth and the pleasure of working with him. His passing leaves a great void with us.
